PAINT ♥

Even though charcoal is still my favorite, sometimes I'm just in the mood to paint. I took painting class in 10th grade, but didn't really care for it. I like painting at home though.
My boyfriend Jason asked me to do a painting of the Wraith (?) for him, so I did. He loved it and its still hanging up in his room, along with Bob Marley and his ebony tiger.
I did one of two gay boys (since i support all kinds of love), one of my dead guinea pig Timothy, and one inspired by life (which has appeared in so many art shows it has only been able to hang in my room for a total of 3 days since I painted it like 6 months ago).

That's my painting "Meaning of Life" on display at The University of St. Francis.

I'm currently working on a painted portrait of a little girl. I'll probably edit it back into the post once i finish. EDIT: The little girl is the one on bottom. :)

Oh and I taught my nephew Evan how to paint at 8 months. ♥ He's the cutest thing.

Older Portraits.

After seeing how much I loved chalk with the Tyffani portrait, I decided to do some more. And people starte to pay me for them! Since I was still pretty inexperienced, and people around here are broke, I was only charging $20 a portrait. My friend Jess asked me to do a portrait of a fairy type girl with a masquerade mask in the background, so I did. It took me a few hours, but i gave it to her right away and got paid ($20). She matted it and took it home with her that day.

Next I decided to do a portrait of Kurt Cobain for my sister for her birthday (she loves him). Looking back this isn't my favorite one, but its still decent.
After people started seeing on Facebook what i could do, I was asked to do more art for people. A classmate Dan asked me to do a portrait of him for his room ($20) and my boyfriend asked me to do one of Bob Marley for him (for free because I love him, duh.)
I did a few more things shortly after. I was on a roll. I did another one of Tyffani, Lil Wayne, a dandelion, and some others.

All those were done at random times during 2011. I will probably put up another post showing my newer art. Please do not take any of these photos without my permission. Thanks

CharcoalCharcoalCharcoal♥

4/20/11 : The day I fell in love. & No, not with anything drug related. That's the day I decided to give chalk pastels another shot. The first time I tried to do a charcoal portrait (drawing class in 10th grade), it sucked. I hated it so much, I vowed to never do any art involving chalk again. But for some reason, that day I decided to try again. I was getting bored doing everything in pencil & ebony. So, I picked a picture of my beautiful friend Tyffani off Facebook and got to work.  I had this giant, ancient sketch book my sister left for me with brownish colored paper in it. It's pretty old and she has no idea were she got it from. Anyway, I printed the picture and made my grid, turned my music up and shut the door. I experimented with pencils and pastels. The picture ended up taking me about 3 hours, but it was well worth it.

It turned out beautiful, and has appeared in many art shows around here. Its faded by now, but is still one of my favorite pieces I've ever done. Not only do I like it because it looks good, but because it lead me into finding my passion and creating lots of other charcoal portraits.

My First "Real" Theater Makeup!

In the middle of March my school put on a performance of Phantom of the Opera for our spring musical.  I did the makeup for this, and my main project was to do the messed up face of our lead, Wil.
Adding some shadows

To do this I used some liquid latex, powders, and eyeshadows for shading. It took me about an hour to an hour and a half each time.  There were 4 offical performances and 3 dress rehearsals and I had to do this on Wil's face each time.
Don't mind his topless-ness..

Now, I say this is my first "real" theater job because the last play I did (Dracula) there wasn't much makeup to be done except a few people I had to age and I also did vampire bites on some of the girls. Unfortunatly, I didn't think to take pictures of the makeup that time around.
Greying out the eyes

Luckily, my art teacher offered to come in with her (really nice!) camera and take some awesome photos of the process for me and Wil to keep for our personal collections. How nice of her!

This is in the process, before powder, after latex!
So all in all, this is my second production, but the first one that I actually would find appropriate to put in a portfolio. :)
